Wild Seed Collection & Growing
For over a decade I managed and assisted in the production of 10,000-800,000 native plants annually to support ecological regeneration, education, and social rewilding programs. This work involved developing and following crop production plans and timelines; collecting, processing, treating, and sowing wild native seed; taking divisions and cuttings; transplanting, weeding, fertilizing, pruning, and moving plants; regularly monitoring crop health and production; organically treating pests and diseases; developing and updating nursery best management practices; and maintaining databases of plant production and distribution.
Many of these tasks were done with the help of community volunteers during regular bi-weekly nursery programs—where students and community members would learn how to grow and tend to native plants as they built relationships, confidence, and care for their local landscapes.
In support of this work, I also managed and maintained three educational pollinator gardens, hosted public garden tours, nursery tours, and community trainings on sustainable horticulture.
